Boy’s Brigade Junior Section
The Junior Section is for Boys in Primary 4 to 7 at school and meet in the church hall on a Friday nights from 6:00 to 7:30pm.
As with the Anchor Boys, fun is the main emphasis for our meeting nights with lots of team games, crafts, music, mime and drama and more.
The Junior Section wear a royal blue sweatshirt with the Boys' Brigade anchor on it. Boys also wear a hat.
We work to a recently revised programme, split into five sections Body, Mind, Spiritual, Community and creativity. At the end of the year, on completion of the years programme, the Boy is awarded a badge to be worn on his uniform to mark his achievements.
The three main Junior Section badges each Boy could obtain is Bronze, Silver and Gold. There is also a target badge that can be gained by a Boy within a minimum of five weeks attendance at meeting nights.
Throughout the year the Junior Section take part in competitions against other Companies in our area. These competitions are, football, bible and safety quiz, swimming, figure marching, mime and drama, physical and an outdoor day.
Camping is a big part of the Junior Section calendar. The Junior Section attend an annual camp over the long weekend at the end of May in Largs where the Boys go on trips to exciting places of interests such as the Sea Life Centre, Millport and Glasgow museums. There is also time for events such as team games, treasure hunts, playpark visits, DVDs on the projector and loads of freetime for the Boys to play safely in the halls with their friends.
We also go on canvas camps where the Boys sleep in tents and have lots of fun taking part in the especially prepared activities laid on for them. We also have a summer camp where the Boys have the chance to take part in activities such as abseiling, rock climbing and other fun activities they would not normally do.
